October: Bishop Smith announces his retirement, anticipated to be in the spring of 2010
November: Standing committee calls Search/Nominating and Transition Committees
December: Search/Nominating and Transition Committees gather for retreat with Standing Committee

2009

January 28: Online Survey of Diocese is completed
February: Forum Conversations gather information throughout Diocese
March: Survey and Forum results are analyzed and published
April 7: Diocesan Profile and Application package are published online
April: Applications are received
May 1: Applications close at 5 p.m. EDST
May: Applications are reviewed
May 18: Candidates are updated regarding their status. Further information may be requested
May 24 – 31: Video Conference/Phone interviews are conducted
June 6: Visits to candidates for a Sunday service are scheduled
June 7 - 21: Candidates’ home congregations are visited for a Sunday service Reference checks are completed
Candidates visit Connecticut
July 1: Search/Nominating Committee announces initial slate of nominees to Diocese
July 2 - July 24: Petition candidate applications are accepted by Standing Committee
July 8 - 17: Episcopal General Convention, Anaheim, CA
August 20: Standing Committee reviews and certifies petition candidates
September 1: Petition candidate background checks are completed and Standing Committee announces petition nominees
Upon completion of background checks, final slate of candidates is announced to Diocese
October 1: Nominees are introduced to the diocese
October 24: Diocesan Convention elects new Bishop
Oct 26 - Dec 31: Standing Committee obtains consent of other Standing Committees
October 24: Diocesan Convention elects new Bishop

2010

April 17: XV Bishop of Connecticut is consecrated
